LBCC courses will soon be available at Jordan, Cabrillo high schools for Long Beach Unified high school students

It will be easier for high school students in the Long Beach Unified School District to take Long Beach City College classes in spring 2019, with classes coming to Jordan and Cabrillo high schools.

The classes coming to Jordan and Cabrillo are an expansion to LBCC’s Early College Pathways Partnership program with the district, which started in summer 2017 and allows free, dual-enrollment in LBCC courses for high school students. In the past, the courses were offered to high school students only at the college’s Liberal Arts Campus and Pacific Coast Campus…

…Bringing a higher education presence to North Long Beach has also been on the minds of the area’s representatives on the City Council and the LBCC board of trustees. The college is a two-hour bus ride away for some North Long Beach students and LBCC Trustee Uduak-Joe Ntuk hopes it will lure the 1,000-some students the area loses to Compton College.
