Election ushers in new leadership for Long Beach Community College District

The Long Beach Community College District’s governing board is set to have a new member after this year’s campaign ended with voters choosing challenger Uduak-Joe Ntuk over incumbent Jeff Kellogg.

“North Long Beach turned out to vote, and they decided to go in a different direction than the status quo,” Ntuk said Wednesday…

…The college district’s board of trustees sets policy for Long Beach City College. Ntuk’s campaign proposals include enhancing the college’s relationship with dual enrollment programs with the Long Beach Unified School District so high school students can earn an associate’s degree at the same time as their diploma.

Doing so would enable students to either increase their earnings power after high school, or be well on their way to completing a four-year degree, Ntuk said. He also wants Long Beach City College students to be able to ride for free on Long Beach Transit buses.
